Saudi Arabia has unveiled the first electric vehicles from CEER, the Kingdom’s homegrown automotive brand, bringing a major new chapter in the country’s push to develop a domestic electric vehicle industry.
The company revealed its flagship EXOBOT electric sedan and SUV at its manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City, marking the first major vehicle launch from the Saudi brand since it was established in 2022.
The two models are expected to go on sale in Saudi Arabia in early 2027, while CEER plans to introduce five additional models by 2030.
CEER EXOBOT Marks Saudi Arabia's EV Push
The launch of EXOBOT is about more than introducing two new electric cars.
For Saudi Arabia, CEER forms part of a wider effort to develop local manufacturing capabilities, attract investment and create an automotive supply chain inside the Kingdom.
CEER was established as a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Taiwan-based technology manufacturer Foxconn. The company describes itself as Saudi Arabia’s first automotive manufacturer and aims to develop a broader vehicle portfolio over the coming years.
The company’s first models are designed and engineered in Saudi Arabia and are intended to become the foundation of a larger automotive business.
What Is the CEER EXOBOT?
The EXOBOT range currently consists of a premium electric sedan and an electric SUV.
Both vehicles feature a futuristic design, including distinctive upward-opening doors and a pillar-less side structure supported by high-strength materials.
The electric vehicles are positioned as premium products, with CEER focusing on technology, design and performance as it prepares to enter the Saudi market.
Industry reports say the EXOBOT SUV uses a 112 kWh battery and can produce up to 850 horsepower, while the sedan is reported to offer a range of up to around 670 kilometres under the NEDC testing cycle.
These specifications place the new Saudi electric cars firmly in the premium EV segment.
When Will CEER Electric Cars Go on Sale?
CEER's first electric cars are expected to reach Saudi customers in early 2027.
The company is taking a gradual approach to its market expansion rather than immediately targeting a large number of international markets. Reuters reported that CEER plans to expand into regional markets from 2028, with broader growth expected later in the decade.
That approach gives the company time to develop production, suppliers and after-sales infrastructure before expanding beyond Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia Wants a Domestic Automotive Industry
The launch of CEER fits directly into Saudi Arabia's broader economic diversification strategy.
For decades, oil has dominated the Kingdom's economy and exports. Building an automotive industry gives Saudi Arabia an opportunity to develop manufacturing, engineering, technology and supply-chain capabilities alongside its established energy sector.
The Public Investment Fund launched CEER in 2022 with the stated objective of supporting the development of the Kingdom's industrial ecosystem, attracting investment and creating opportunities for private-sector companies.
The project is therefore being watched not only by car buyers but also by investors and companies looking at Saudi Arabia's rapidly developing manufacturing sector.
Five More CEER Models Are Planned
The EXOBOT sedan and SUV are only the beginning of CEER's planned lineup.
Reuters reported that the Saudi company intends to launch five additional vehicle models by 2030. The wider portfolio is expected to include different vehicle sizes and propulsion technologies rather than being limited to fully electric cars.
This broader strategy could allow CEER to respond to changing consumer demand while building a stronger production base in Saudi Arabia.
The company has also said its future lineup will expand beyond the initial flagship vehicles over the next five years.
Why CEER Matters Beyond Saudi Arabia
The emergence of a Saudi electric car brand could have implications across the wider Gulf automotive market.
The UAE, Qatar and other Gulf markets are already investing heavily in electric mobility, charging infrastructure and smart transportation. A locally developed Saudi EV brand could eventually compete for consumers across the region.
CEER has indicated that regional expansion is part of its longer-term strategy, with the first international markets expected to be considered from 2028.
That makes the company one to watch as competition in the Middle East's electric vehicle market increases.
A New Test for Saudi's Automotive Ambitions
The launch of the CEER EXOBOT gives Saudi Arabia its most visible automotive project yet.
The next challenge will be moving from an ambitious vehicle launch to sustained production, reliable supply chains and competitive sales in a market where established global automakers and fast-growing Chinese EV manufacturers are already competing.
For now, the unveiling gives Saudi Arabia a new automotive story to build around: a domestic EV brand, a growing manufacturing ecosystem and a planned lineup extending well beyond its first two vehicles.
Gulf Stars Magazine will continue to follow CEER, Saudi Arabia's electric vehicle industry and the wider transformation of the Gulf automotive market.
